Description


This charming 14 day journey will take you to the heart of the most important temple compounds of Indonesia. Following the mysticism of Borobodur and Prambanan you will enjoy the traditions and customs of Tana Toraja Region, which offers a wide cultural and natural landscape. After that you will relax at the pristine beaches in Bali.

Program

Day 1. WELCOME TO YAKARTA - YOGYAKARTA

Arrive Yakarta, Inmigration clearance and connecting flight to Yogyakarta. Arriva a Yogyakarta and directly transfer to the Hotel. Accomodation.
Meals included: No.


Day 2. YOGYAKARTA / TRIP TO BOROBUDUR - PRAMBANAN

Trip to the worldwide famous Buddhist Temple Borobudur, which holds over 500 Buddha statues and thousands of relief panels. Then we will visit Prambanan, the biggest Hindu temple compound of Indonesia. These temples are dedicated to Trimurti, the expression of God as the creator (Brahma), the Sustainer (Vishnu) and the Destroyer (Shiva)- the Hindu Trinity.
Meals included: Breakfast and lunch.

Day 3. YOGYAKARTA - MAKASSAR - TORAJA

Transfer to the airport to flight to Makassar. Arrival to the airport of Makassar, capital of the Island of Sulawesi. After meeting our guide, we will be driven to the Toraja Land. In the evening, we will arrive to Rantepao, the most important village of Tana Toraja Region. Our hotel is located here. Later on we will visit some traditional villages of the Toraja Region.

Day 4.-5. TORAJA TOUR

During these days we will visit the most charismatic places of the Tana Toraja Region. We will visit the village of Kete´kesu where we will be able to appreciate the curious shape of the Toraja traditional houses, the North-South distribution of the villages, the stone graves of Londa, guarded by Tau-Tau (wood effigies representing the deceased), high up a rock. If during the stay we have the opportunity to see a ceremony, we will assist to see the fascinating ritual that is taken to honour the deceased. Return to Rantepao to have dinner and sleep.

Day 6. RAFTING RIVER MAULU

After breakfast, we will walk down to the River Maiting (Approx. 1 Hour way down). Once in the river, we will go rafting (Level 2, easy). It will be a non stopping visual experience passing by the deep canyons, natural waterfalls and villages; seeing animals as iguanas and tropical birds. Then we will return to our hotel in Rantepao.

Day 7. TORAJA - MAKASSAR - BALI

We will be driven through "transulawesi" road to Makassar, Sulawesi's capital. During this trip, we will visit the traditional villages of the Bugis, who live in all the South of the Island. They are known by their ability to build "phinisi" boats and by their houses set on stilt. We will have lunch in Kupa Beach, where a great tropical scenery can be contemplated. In Makassar, we will take the flight back to Bali. Arrival in Bali and transfer to Ubud, geographical centre of the Bali Island. Rest of the day free for you to relax, have a walk around Ubud and visit its markets, temples and art galleries. Accommodation in Ubud.

Day 8. TRIP TO KINTAMANI - BESAKIH

Depart from Ubud to Sebatu, a small village. Before arriving to Sebatu, the road goes by wonderful rice fields situated in the stepped terraces. In Sebatu we will visit the temple of the Sacred Fountain, place of purification for the Balinese. We will pass by coffee and orange plantations before arriving to Kintamani, a mountain village at an altitude of 1400 meters over the sea level. From the village, we will enjoy of an amazing view overlooking the still active Batur Volcano (1717 meters) and the Batur Lake. Then, we will visit Besakih,the most important temple of Bali, built in the mountainside of the Agung Mountain (3142 meters), which is the highest mountain of the island. Next, we will go to Klungkung, the former capital (1740-1908), where we will see the Justice Court (Kertagosa) and the Floating Pavilion (Bale Kambang). On the way back, we will stop in Goa Gajah (The Elephant Cave) whose temple is one of the most visited and venerated in Bali.

Day 9.-10. BALI (UBUD)

Free days in Ubud. Accommodation and breakfast. Optional activities: guided tours, dances, shopping, gastronomy, bike tours, rafting, etc.

Day 11. BALI ( UBUD - BEACH)

At the arranged time, transfer to the hotel located in the beach of Bali. Accommodation.
Meals included: Breakfast.

Day 12.-13. BALI (BEACH)

Free days in Bali. Ubud.
Meals Included: Breakfast.

Day 14. DEPARTURE FROM BALI - OUT

A t the arranged time, transfer to the airport for departure.
